Cicada 's are amazing...

I know you've seen this picture all ready, take a look at this video on Wikipedia.

I still recall the year when all of them emerged, the 7, 17, 27 year variety and the sound was actually deafening and continuous for most of the summer.
It seems pretty obvious the mating rituals are very important, particularly when you only get one shot at it in your lifetime.
However, thoughts of "mating rituals" as an activity I'm interested in are fading. They will be missed.
