Hurricane Ike is going to be a defining moment in Houston history.
"Where you here during the storm?"
It's a question that will be asked again and again.
Right now the question is, "Do you have power yet?" The answer, not many do. Fortunately, the weather has been unusually mild for mid September.
I must admit that on the street where I live, the neighbors and I have been very lucky. No one had a tree fall on their house and no one was injured.
We have a mess to clean up, and most of us have already gotten after it.
The neighborhood is slowly getting back to normal.
The part of town where I office is up and running and for the past couple of days we have been handing out supplies to employees.
But it's going to be a long time before we "get over" IKE, and some of us never will.
