Friday August 15th, 2008

Jeff and Laural came to town yesterday and will be spending a couple of days here. It's very good to see them and have a chance for a short visit.
Next time you're in Dallas go have breakfast at the "Taco Joint", address to follow, it's near the Baylor Medical Center.

I picked up Kevin and Mary last night after two months in Germany.
They had been up for almost 24 hours and they where fit to be tied.
By the time I got in the rack it was WAY past my bedtime.

School has started and the Teacher is up and out the door at the crack of dawn. Nothing but meetings until the kids return week after next.
Here's a great idea, let's not pay teachers enough money to live on and then make them deal with all sorts of bureaucratic nonsense. That ought to inspire all kinds of loyality and esprit de corps.
There is some good news this year, the SBISD has instituted a stipend for Math teachers, not much money but a step in the right direction.
Think about spending your day trying to convince 6 different groups of adolesants, each group about 25 in number, for 45 minutes at a time, that they need ALGEBRA. Oh yea, you have to "UP" the whole time in order to keep them engaged. Try doing that for eight hours a day, five days a week, with 30 minutes for lunch.
Think you're tough, try that for a while.
